Does a Guy Turn into a Thing?

I don't need to explain what this question means. If you're like me, this is what you wonder about every peice of media you are reccomended. This is because I'm twisted. I'm sick in the head. The fact that monster transformations are not physically possible in real life has deranged me, it haunts me, and I need to see this scenario in as many stories as I can, or I will die. I've found that most media databases are inadequate for locating what I crave.

This is why I began my spreadsheet of Anime Where a Guy Turns into a Thing. While it was a private personal project, I realized that there might be other sickos out there who I could help with my data. Moreover, there might be people who might have additions to the list that I couldn't have found on my own. I even began to think I could expand beyond the realm of anime and manga I was previously focused on.

Of note is that a story with people turning into things is not enough. I'm talking about a specific kind of story, a Story Where a Guy Turns into a Thing. Here is how I define it:

Rules

• A guy is a human-- or person who appears to be and thinks of themselves as a human-- of any gender. A thing is a being whose physical, mental, or spiritual humanity is in doubt.
• The guy is the protagonist of the story, or one of multiple protagonists of equal importance.
• The inciting event of the story is the initialization of the procces in which the protagonist is turned into a thing.

If it follows these rules, congratulations! This is a Story Where a Guy Turns into a Thing. Of course, there a are some grey areas for all of these. Sometimes, a character can turn into something like a vampire or an elf, and despite not being human it just doesn't feel like their humanity is in doubt. Whether the turning into a thing needs to happen right at the start, or can happen later on, really depends on whether it feels like the previous events were building up to the transformation. Until I can make more exact rules, some of this will be vibes.
